J. I. Packer suggests that knowing becomes increasingly complex as we move from knowing objects to knowing people and from knowing people to knowing God. "The more complex the object, the more complex is the knowing of it." So since genuinely knowing another human is itself a demanding task, knowing the invisible God might seem utterly impossible. It would be if it were not for the fact that it is something God desires more deeply than we ever possibly could.
